Crafting in Path of Exile has a reputation for being complex and expensive. Using Exalted Orbs and Divine Orbs to perfect an item requires deep knowledge and significant wealth. But there is a more accessible crafting system that every player can use. The Crafting Bench. Found in your hideout after completing certain quests, the bench allows you to add or modify modifiers on your gear using currency and other resources. It is not the most powerful crafting method, but it is the most reliable.

The Crafting Bench offers dozens of recipes. Some recipes are unlocked automatically as you progress through the campaign. Others require discovering specific locations in maps or defeating certain bosses. A basic recipe might add fire resistance to a pair of boots. An advanced recipe might add movement speed or life. A master recipe might add cannot be frozen or cannot be poisoned. The bench provides guaranteed results. You pay the cost, and you get exactly the modifier you selected. There is no randomness.

The most important use of the Crafting Bench is filling missing stats. You find a ring with three good modifiers but an empty suffix slot. You take it to the bench and add the resistance you need. You find a body armour with high life but no defensive modifier. You add a percentage armour increase. You find a weapon with high physical damage but no attack speed. You add attack speed. The bench turns good items into great items. It turns great items into nearly perfect items. For a modest currency cost, the bench solves your gear problems.

The bench also enables multi-mod crafting. The most expensive bench recipe adds multiple crafted modifiers to an item. This allows you to take a item with one or two good modifiers, then craft three or four additional modifiers onto it. The result is a item with six perfect stats. Multi-mod crafting is expensive, requiring multiple Exalted Orbs and a specific meta-crafting recipe. But it guarantees a powerful item. Many endgame weapons and chest pieces are created using multi-mod crafting.

Veiled modifiers add another layer. When you defeat Jun’s syndicate members, you earn veiled items. Taking these to the Crafting Bench unveils them, unlocking new crafting options. These veiled modifiers are often powerful and unique. You might unlock the modifier that triggers a low-level aura when equipped, or the modifier that deals increased damage while leeching. The veiled system encourages engaging with the betrayal league content. The rewards are worth the effort.

The Crafting Bench also repairs corrupted items. Normally, corrupted items cannot be modified. But the bench offers a few recipes that work even on corrupted gear. You can add sockets, links, and even colors to corrupted items. The cost is high, often involving Vaal Orbs and other rare currencies. But the ability to fix a corrupted six-link chest piece is invaluable. Without the bench, a corrupted item with the wrong socket colors would be useless. With the bench, it becomes usable.

POE 1 Currency’s Crafting Bench is a lifeline for players who do not enjoy gambling with orbs. It provides guaranteed results for reasonable costs. It encourages picking up items with good bases and open affixes. It turns the daunting crafting system into something approachable. Every player should unlock the bench, learn the recipes, and use it regularly. The bench will not make you rich. It will not craft mirror-tier items.
